Default powerwise charger question

i know this may sound like a stupid question.I have a 36 volt powerwise 2 charger.I assume it shuts off by itself.how will I know?does it stop humming?and how long does it take.just wondering if it recognizes the state of the batteries and charges adequetly and not overcharging. thanks Mike

1. The only dumb questions are the ones not asked.
2. Same charger I have. It is a good one. Built like a tank and everything is repairable.
3. It shuts off by itself and you'll know when it stops humming and the Ammeter drops to Zero. How long it takes is more or less determined by how discharged the batteries were. Initial charges on new batteries will take a long time, 6-10 hours, but after they are broken in, it's 4-6 hours and less if the batteries aren't discharged much.
4. It senses the battery pack voltage to turn on and to turn off. Basically, it was designed to provide the charge curve recommended by Trojan, so it does a good job of fully charging battery packs.
5. It is next to impossible to overcharge a battery pack with a PW II. In fact, it has a back-up timer that terminates the charge if the battery pack voltage does not rise to the automatic cut-off voltage for some reason.
