assuming youre meter has three prongs, hook the third prong to the positive wire on ur key switch and then when u turn ur cart off it will also turn the meter off

I took my switch plate off finally today. It had plastic rivets that I was about to drill out and when I touched the tiny drill bit to the round peg it simply pushed through and the plate came off then. I think I can reuse the rivets nut maybe not.

I will have to buy a new switch anyway so I am going to buy a switch plate as well and do it right since they destroyed the old plate by cutting a huge hole for that switch. I have a rectangular state of charge meter and as said above in this post it stays on all the time. Per the wiring diagram there is a red wire coming from batteries going to post 1 and black from batteries going to post 2. My state of charge meter has two prongs on the post #1 (I'll call them 1 and 1(a)) and there is a loop running from 1(a) to post 4. So I am thinking if I eliminate the loop from 1(a) to 4 and instead run it from the terminal on key switch that green wire attaches to state of charge meter post 4, that my switch will then control when the state of charge meter comes on?

razor I received my new ezgo key switch and switch plate today. The state of charge meter that was in my cart when I bought it was wired strangely to the old switch - or rather it wasnt connected to the key switch. There was a loop from the red positve from battery pack to the post that should have been connected to the switch. I wired my new switch according to a wiring diagram I found here and now I have a functioning switch WITH KEY now. The state of charge meter will come on when the key is turned to on position and when F/R is not in neutral. Like yours when I select F/R to neutral meter goes off. However one thing has changed from before my install. If the F/R is moved to R the beeper will sound even if key is off and removed from switch. Is that normal? I just took it as a sign not to leave cart in Rev unless mening to back up. So I store it in neutral with park brake on. Oh and I was able to reuse my plastic rivets for the switch plate reinstall.

I disabled the reverse buzzer so I couldn't say. I'm sure there's another way to wire it but I'm happy to park the cart in neutral to kill all power.
