Club car charging issue
I've got a 2008 club car ds. It has alltrax dcx 500 amp controller plum quick bandit motor. Batteries 2 years old. Water levels good. Just up graded to 4guage wire 2 days ago now it seems my cart is taking forever to charge. Charged 12 hours last night and charger was still at 7-8 amps. Batteries were boiling. My digital volt meter on my cart showed 60v. I unplugged left for 5 min. And checked voltage again reading 52 volts which is normal... My question is did I maybe cross a wire when swapping to 4guage wire? Charger bad? Battery bad. Or am I overreacting? Jus worried about the sudden change in charging after swapping to 4ga. Wire. Any help???

Yes Steve it is. Thanks ill let it keep charging and keep an eye on it. How long would you say it will charge bf I have a problem? I was thinking over 14hrs.? Also I read the obc could be bad and not letting it shut off...but cart runs fine...so my obc has to be good??

. . . a charging cycle can last up to 16 hrs before it times out . . . "boiling" over can be that you filled the cells with distilled water prior to charging . . only add water after a charge cycle and only to about 1/4" above plates . . . during the charge cycle, gassing occurs which in turns causes overflow of cells during charging process . . .

I figured it out! When I ran the new 4ga wire I forgot to run the negative of the end battery through the CPU "sensor hole". My mistake lol. Haven't recharged yet but I will tonight after I ride it today for while. But I'm 99.9% sure that's the issue bc it didn't start this until I upgraded my cables!
