Default Seat Re-do

My seat is gone , from the wood up.....new covers should be here Monday , going to Homedepot to get some plywood but wondering if I REALLY need those special (t nuts? ) that the armrest bracket bolts too , with new wood I don't see why some lag screws (short enough so I don't stab my own behind) wouldn't work , anybody use them on a seat?

The nuts are more solid. Home Depot sells them.

as well. And use 3/4 inch wood instead of the flimsy factory 1/2 inch! Also, drill the "fart holes" back in the bottom of the wood, an extra set is a good idea. These let air from the foam escape when you sit down so that the seat cover doesn't blow up on the other side. Extra holes let extra air escape, leading to the cover not stretching against the staples as much therefore prolonging seat life.

Paint typically last longer than stain.
