Default Can you paint a stock golf cart top?

What I would like to find out, is if a stock golf cart top ( the beige plastic/vinyl one) can be painted??

NOT with bed liner or spray cans, but painted the same as a cart body?

The only tops o have seen painted out here, are the fiberglass ones.

I live in the desert where temps are 118 , and have a customer that wants me to paint his top to match the body.

The stock precedent and ezgo rxv tops are what I am wondering about.

Any help and experience is appreciated.

Thanks

Just like automotive painting you have to prep it well, it will take fine sanding and probably a coating adhesive type to give the paint something to stick to most like as car and plastic bumper covers etc. I've seen done but I didn't do it. I'm sure you will get someone here that did.

I painted mine black with krylon plastic paint and it came flaking right back off. A friend who is a painter told me to use Bulldog adhesion promoter on it and then paint it. Stuffs not cheap, about $25 a can at automotive paint store but its been two years now and the paint is like new

Clan with degreaser or alcohol, scuff with scotchbrite pad, clean again with alcohol. Spray three light coats off Bulldog adhesion. Let dry than paint
