36v to 48v question
While considering if my battery rack would need to be modified for the 8 volt battery cases, I went to a chart on Trojan's site and noticed something that I don't recall anyone mentioning before.
All their 8v's have lower amp/hr rates than any of their 6v batts. So if I understand what I've been reading in the forum, what I gain in speed from running a 36v series motor on 48v's comes with a loss in run time. Yes? No? |

Re: 36v to 48v question
The switch to 48 volt won't necessarily cost you run time. It will most likely extend your run time. You will have less amp hours per battery but more kilowatt hours in the pack. To simplify it, with more voltage you will use less amps off the battery pack.

Re: 36v to 48v question
To add to the above comment: a 36 volt motor runs more efficiently on 48 volts, cooler too.

Re: 36v to 48v question
OK, I think I have a handle on this now. It's like having a duel voltage table saw or compressor, at 220v the amps are less than at 110v.----nailed by Ohm's Law again.
Thanks again guys. |
