Default mid 90s 36 volt ds cable burnt up at resistor coil

Good morning. This is a continuation from my last thread with the v glide adjustment problem. I got all that fixed and it is perfect. Now I have a new issue. The cable from the vglide to the 4th and 5th resistor coil point is burning IP the cable for some reason. The coils are fine no breaks. What could be causing this problem? Do the coils have to be insulated where they lay on the bottom plate where they mount or what? Thank you for any information on this problem.

Big tires? hills? mud? ... any of these things will cause resistor coil drive system failure.
