Most places in this area (WI) are around $350 for a basic body cleanup and paint, providing there is no major damage to repair, etc prior to sealing and painting, clearing, etc ... I've seen cheaper in Chicago, big cities will always have a glut of painters willing to give You a "deal" - but it's paint. You get what You pay for.

IMHO, find a good bodyman and have him blow it with several coats of Urethane Enamel after prepping it - You will have a finish that to the untrained eye will actually compare to a base/clear, metallic and pearls can also be added if the guy knows his stuff, but You'll also have a VERY durable paint job that will flex and last for far longer than the average, basic base/clear - Again, just IMHO but from actual "real world" experience, the durability and lower maintainance of UE can't be beat (as well as the lower cost)
