speed question, regarding lift and tire/wheels
I have a 2004 Club Car DS that is on setting 3 with magnet and gets about 14-16mph. I don't do any extreme off roading, but occasionally go down to the neighborhood pond and creek.
Anyway, I don't want to lose any speed. Will a lift (6 or case any speed loss? Or just adding a tire/wheel combo that pushes the limit without lift? I saw there are also cheap kits around $60 on Ebay called "Club Car DS Lo Pro Lift Kit, Golf Cart Leveling Kit for Larger 12-14" Wheels" Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Here is my toy |

Re: speed question, regarding lift and tire/wheels
Nice looking cart! Love the black body. Adding a lift in itself won't have any effect on speed itself. If you put larger tires on your cart, then the speed will increase but at the cost of torque. Therein lies the trap! "Hmmm.. I lost torque, better increase controller or motor to make up for it!"
I don't know those percentages of loss and maybe someone else can chime in. I would think that a speed code adjustment could benefit you if you don't want to go crazy with dollars. Then add some rear shackles and something like the leveling kit if you wish for the front. Tires and rims if you like and Yowza! looking good! My .03$(adjusted for inflation) |

Re: speed question, regarding lift and tire/wheels
for starters your speed is off for the equipment you described with a magnet you should be in the 19 mph range fix the problem first then move on. are you sure you have a speed magnet and are you sure of your speed using a good gps

Re: speed question, regarding lift and tire/wheels
Greg-g, he bought the magnet from me. He definitely got a speed magnet. I agree with you though. The speeds are very low considering the equipment he has. I sold one to a guy with the GE motor last week and he's claiming to get 24mph.
Bwsooner, what are you going to try to flip? The magnet? If the magnet was in backwards the sensor wouldn't detect it at all and you'd be getting limp mode crawling speed. I don't think that's the issue. I sent you a PM, I'd like for you to check to ensure that the motor braking has been disabled by the magnet. See if you can find a hill and clock your speed. It should not slow itself down (once it reaches 14.8mph) with the high speed magnet installed. |
