New Thought - Backup Lights

I've been thinking and have come up with a new idea. Would it be feasible to wire in a small LED bar or two in to work when the cart is in reverse? My idea would be to splice the two power wires for the reverse buzzer and run wires from there to the lights. Am I putting the controller or any related components in danger by doing it that way?

I know led lights don't pull much but I would not wire them directly. Get a 48 volt relay and go for it.

Yeah I was skimming through that before and that's what gave me the idea. I'm pretty sure the buzzer is 12v (I've tested it before by applying 12v to one) and thought of just directly hard wiring them directly to that

Even if the signal is a 32v one like said in the other thread, the lights I am looking at work from 9-32v, allegedly anyway

I thought all Club Car reverse buzzers worked on pack voltage.

It may make a sound at a lower voltage, but it is activated by pack voltage.

I think the relay is the best/safest option.

I've replaced my backup buzzer - its 48v. As far as I can tell they are universal on electric carts (more or less) and are fed with (and rated up to) 48v on carts running 48v. I'm not sure 12v LED's would last long enough to even see the dying flash at 48v before they were fried.

The other nice thing about these relays is that if You want to add an LED for a visual ON indicator, You can just wire it in series with the relay coil.

The 2.3kΩ coil resistance keeps the current at an LED friendly 20ma.

i hooked up a 36v to 12v reducer to my reverse buzzer and then to 2 led lights for back up lights

I was following the same thread and am putting on my Gasser. Found a set of 2 cree 4" 18w on eBay for under $18 shipped. Hard to pass up
