Help with EZGO PDS
Hello all,
New to the forum and I have some questions. I bought this cart from someone who had it made. It is either a TXT or Medalist EZGO. It is a PDS, 36V lifted cart. The motor is a D&D ES 9B 50(which I could not find specs with) and a DCX 400 controller and I believe a HD solenoid. The owner told me the cart could do wheelies but had the guys put a governor on it(I assume programed in the DCX) as it is not gas. It can go around 16 mph but I was wanting to speed it up(18-22 would be great). Is my motor more of a torque motor? Can the speed be increased by programming the DCX differently? Do I need a new motor? If so which one?(keep in mind that I live in a hilly area in places but is mostly flat around my neighbor hood. I am also wanting to add rear brake lights, is this difficult to do? I will be adding speakers, Sony DSX 100 but still undecided about where to place the speakers. Can a Bazooka bass fit under the seat? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Rick |

Re: Help with EZGO PDS
Welcome to BGW. That is a NICE looking cart. IT is a TXT platform with possibly a ST350 front end on it. The manufacture code in the glove box will give the year.
The first thing to do is to get the interface cable for the controller and see how it is programed. The torque motor may be limiting your rpm. The stock motor would be running around 25mph with that controller set to 100% |

Re: Help with EZGO PDS
Scottyb,
Thanks for your help. It does not have the code in the glove box, looks like it was removed. By interface, you mean the old computer cable? Do I have to have a specific program to look at the settings? I don't think it is a stock motor but I can't tell since I can't find any info on this particular D&D model. I agree that the front end is a ST350 as I just saw that while looking for accessories. Has Exide batteries, are they any different from Trojan 105? |

Re: Help with EZGO PDS
You can go to www.alltraxinc.com . The program is available there along with lots of good info. adding brake lights is not to difficult, depending on the light kit your cart has installed. I don't think a Bazooka will fit under the seat. Jensen makes a marine sub that will, I'm using one in my build. Hope this helps get you started.

Re: Help with EZGO PDS
found the serial number and it is a 2004 EZGO TXT. I will check my Controller with my laptop as I have the software to do so now. I will see if the speed is maxed out. Thanks for your help Wrongway.
I have seen a sub by Kenwood that has the dimensions for it to fit under the seat. |

Re: Help with EZGO PDS
What Exide batteries do you have? Mine lasted nine years, but that seems to be rare. For a comparison, it's all about lead first, then internal design.

You should be going a lot faster than 17mph. Can you snap a couple of pictures for us? Pictures of the motor, controller, fwd/rev switch(assuming you have a PDS because you said you had a DCX 400), battery pack and solenoid Also look at the date code on your batteries and check pack voltage and individual battery voltage. Looks like you have a AWESOME starting point. Brakes, adding brake lights is a very easy task. You have 2 known options. One would be getting the pad that attaches to your pedal that when pressed lights them up, the other option would be the Grandpa Gorno way. Using a 1950's cheverolet pickup brake switch, mounted under the cart on top of the brake pedal arm.(this is what I use) Subwoofers, I would go the route Bill(wrongway) is going. AWESOME setup IMHO Colton |

Re: Help with EZGO PDS
Update:
I now believe that the D&D ES 9B 50 is a torque motor as the controller showed on the diagnostic panel that the speed was at 100%. No luck on that end. Looks like I will need a new motor to get it faster. I will post a picture of the actual board in a little bit. Any suggestions on what motor would get me to 18-22 mph without sacrificing too much torque? And let me know if the DCX 400 is sufficient. Cables are 4 gauge. My local golf cart companies carry Trojan, US and Excide. One recommended Trojan but another said that Exide is also good. |
