Default 94 EZGO wont go solenoid no click

Replaced batteries and solenoid, but when i press the pedal, the solenoid does not click. Have 38V from batteries...every voltage seems good. Wiring is correct as well. What causes the solenoid not to click?

Okay, I traced it to the switch in the pedal box. Gonna get a new one and see if that fixes it.

Okay, after three switches in the pedal box, it still doesnt work. Automatically burns it up when I turn on the golf cart...at the same time, the wire that originally went to Reed switch that I bypassed to the positive batt terminal like suggested in other posts smokes and burns the wire at the F/R switch. Any suggestions? Just about every part and wire has been replaced except the switch itself which I cannot get into, the controller, and the now missing reed switch.

From what I am going through I would assume you have the diode on backwards. I just fried my footswitch doing that..

BTW - where did you get new footswitches and how much $ ?

There is a local golf cart repair place here where I bought the micro switch in the pedal box. It was around $6...hence why I kept buying them when I burnt em up. The Diode is on just like the drawings show it...I ensured that when I replaced the solenoid (solid state speed control). Could the Diode just be bad causing all of my problems you think?

Band on diode should be on red wire side, reversed will fry that switch. Which I just did. Diode can take it, switch can't.

Band was on red wire side...However you got me wondering about it so I removed it and tested it with my voltmeter and its bad...On resistance test, reads 0 no matter which way leads are oriented...supposed to be OL one orientation and 0 the other. On diode check the expected .548 drop is not present...rather the voltage jumps all over the place.

Micro-switch failure is usually a mechanical/electrical failure, not something you caused. Note I said usually. The solenoid activation circuit is relative low current, and poses no challenge to the micros.

so what would cause it? The micro switches i put in are new, new lines ran, i have checked the wiring diagrams more times than i can count so i know everything is wired correctly, new solenoid. As soon as i install the MS and turn the golf cart on, I get smoke from the wire that originally went to the reed switch and the MS goes out. The solenoid never clicks and the golf cart doesnt move. Reverse beep works as does the battery meter. Voltage is good too. Like I said earlier, i tested the diode and it reads short in both directions. So im gonna replace it and the MS again...still kinda at a loss....
