Re: New to Carts - got a 1992 and need advice
IN 1992 CC made 2 drive systems in 36v. Resistor coil and solid state. See which one you have.

Re: New to Carts - got a 1992 and need advice
On a resistor cart, you'll have a row of coils behind the batteries and several large colored wires going to them from the pie shaped box on the driver's side frame rail between the batteries.
On a solid state cart you'll have small wires coming out of the pie shaped box, and no coils behind the batteries. There will be a black rectangular box mounted on the passenger side up under the body - right behind where the passenger's butt would be. |

Re: New to Carts - got a 1992 and need advice
Resistor carts are generally seen as "less upgradeable" because larger tires, extra people on a rear seat, etc. is hard on the resistors and will cause them to burn through or the V-Glide (that pie shaped thing) housing to melt. This of course doesn't happen to everyone, but it has been reported quite frequently.
scottyb makes a nice conversion kit to solid state - when your cart is solid state you're only limited by your budget as to what you can do with it. It's a little pricey to convert, but the gains are worth it, especially if you go 48 volt when you do it. |
