Small Jolt From Battery Pack Neg and Frame
I was attempting to replace the nut on the battery pack negative post of battery #6 and I inadvertently touched my knee to the frame of the cart. This resulted in a small jolt in my hand that was tightening the nut on the battery. I had the R/T switch to tow and the key off. Please tell me this is just me completing the circuit or something, and not an issue of the cart shorting to the frame.

Re: Small Jolt From Battery Pack Neg and Frame
This is just speculation, but for the first couple of seconds after you complete the connection to pack negative, there is current flowing as the capacitors in the controller are charging.
If You have a voltage converter, its capacitors are also charging during this brief period of time. If You interrupt the circuit during this time by having the cable lug bouncing around the battery post, your fingers will provide a better path for the current than open air, so You could feel a jolt. The knee touching the frame is probably unrelated unless the jolt was on your knee. |

Sometimes I get an unexpected jolt in my knee - but it turns out to be old age!

Off topic, but nice looking cart! Where did you get the seats from?

Re: Small Jolt From Battery Pack Neg and Frame
I was going to ask the same thing, nice seats (and cart).
If you need to do a quick charge before Friday, just run a 18ga wire from that fuse holder (sense wire) directly to pack negative. The powerdrive charger will start and run at full power. You will need to keep an eye on the pack voltage and disconnect the charger once the pack gets to about 60v. |

Re: Small Jolt From Battery Pack Neg and Frame
I'm starting to wonder about the voltage reading I'm getting from battery #6 neg to the frame. I bought new batteries today and they are working fine, but I am still puzzled as to why 2 year old batteries would have gone out so quickly...especially since I treated them very well. I'm still getting 56.5 Volts DC to the frame of the cart while the batteries are charging. Is this possible? The cart is charging fine. Is it possibly a false reading? Is there another way to know if something happens is shunting voltage to the aluminum frame? I only ask because of the battery issues and the isolated shock I received the other day.
