Default SW202 reversing contactor and Alltrax AXE controller

I have a 36 volt 2000 TXT Series Cart EMP Motor Alltrax AXE7245 (450 amp programmable controller) 10 inch wheels with 20 inch tires 6 new batteries and HD Solenoid all of which I have added in the last few weeks. I have been reading different posts here and if I am not mistaken I am seeing that I can use something called a reversing contactor and have a toggle to control forward and reverse versus using the clunk arm bar I have now? If anyone knows the how, where I could buy the part and if it is worth it please feel free to chime in. Thank You

Both the kit and the supplier get good reviews. I haven't installed this yet but it is in my future.

Awesome. I just got my first purchase a new HD Solenoid From Scotty B. Everything went great and he is not afraid to respond like some other sites. This will definitely be in my future as well.

SW202 is the main part number, then you need it either in you battery voltage or supplied by your 12V system.

You use a DPDT switch to enable either the FWD or REV direction.
Do not switch directions while pressing the pedal, only after a complete stop. The reversing contactors are not designed for interrupted high current.

The second pole on the switch is fed to the controller to tell it when you are in rev (at least for my Alltrax spm72500).

see attachment for picture schematic of wiring. That should help.

There are a couple of vendors that sell these reversing contactors on this forum.
The SW202 is rated for 350-400amps, SW182 is rated for 200 amps.

That "switching contactor" configuration is fairly common in the golf cart world, was used on all yamaha G1 & G3 (gas & electric), also many, many ParCars. I have also made several Ezgo PDS TXT carts into "series" TXT carts using that method.

Just installed my sw182 yesterday. Nice compared to the clunker. The only thing i don't like is the reversing contactor engages/disengages with the go pedal. I need to find a place to power it from keyswitch rather than main solenoid activation circuit. At least i think that is what is happening.

If you energize the coil with the keyswitch it will be energized all the time which will exceed the duty-rating (time it can operate) if the key is left on as they often are when the cart is not in use. LEt it engage when you press the gas - this is how it is designed to work..... just like your main solenoid. It should be clicking with the go pedal too.

I've had the SW202 since I converted by cart over to solid state and love it.

Bought my conversion package from Scotty and highly recommend him.
