Wiring problem causing smoke in my brain
Hey all, I'm still new to this whole 36 v stuff. So I'll be working on an 08 txt pds cart. I'm going to be installing a voltage reducer, with an output of 12v. First, directions I've seen just show hooking positive and negative to first and last battery in series, easy enough. Question comes in where do i find an accessory power, coming on with the switch? When i put my volt meter behind the ignition it registers 36v, until you flip the switch on, then it drops to 0.
Where do i find a 12 v accessory power? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Wiring problem causing smoke in my brain
The 12v fuse panel on my 36v 01 txt was supplied by + on my middle rear battery, while the- came from the last battery. I'd assume you could do that with any 2?? This is how it came from the factory and is a much discussed flaw. I did like you're doing and put in a reducer so I wasn't drawing down those 2 batteries. My 12v switch, that turns the reducer on, is still pulled from there, but I think the draw is insignificant.
I'd assume you can put a dvm to the above to confirm |

Re: Wiring problem causing smoke in my brain
Ok so basically wire my reducer to the accessory 36v key switch, and draw my constant from the second battery in the series? Right?

The ignition switch of the PDS will give you what you want. You may be using the meter wrong.

Re: Wiring problem causing smoke in my brain
Yeah I'm not sure, i had it in the 200 v setting, when switch was in off position i got reading of 36 or -36 depending upon if reversed. Then with switch in on position it would go to 0 had me confused.

Re: Wiring problem causing smoke in my brain
That's exactly what you should read. 36 volts means that a circuit has +36 and -36 volts at the key switch, but is interrupted by the switch being turned off. Once you turn the switch on, the 36 volt circuit is complete, so there is no voltage drop across the switch.
