Default Resistor cart quit

1997 club Car ds 36v with resistors 3 in lift, 25in tires on rear

Put new batteries in about a month ago. Everything was good, until they called and said it jerked a little, then quit. This is my first experience with a resistor cart, so I jumped in and did the basic checks. Have voltage where I’m supposed to, solenoid clicks, etc. Pulled the pot box, and found a lot of evidence of heat and arching. My guess is this thing is shot!

Any other suggestions on what to check, and how to properly check resistor coils, would be greatly appreciated.

I would say that one is shot. And, probably the only problem.

If you ignore the fact that 25s on a resistor cart will net the same result with a new Vglide in a few weeks

You want my advice? (And the same advice as everyone else here would give you...)

Go to cartsunlimited.net and get a conversion kit. It’s the best thing you can do with a cart like that.

May check into that. I think they just want it running right now. Thanks for chiming in!

Thanks folks. Guess I was looking for a little affirmation. Hate throwing parts at things, Evan when I’m not real familiar with what I’m working on.

Poor little thing being worked to death!

Yeah, I agree. That VGlide looks burned up nice and I'd definitely consider those heavy rubber 25's part of if not the only culprit to the death of that VGlide. Slow moving with big heavy tires will kill it every time.
