DS club car jumps when i go on the peddle

Hi guys,
Paul here from Australia. I love this site as it has so much to offer. Its great reading, keep up the good work.

I have a 1990 DS club cart and when I put the accelerator down it jumps to about 10 MPH.

Worse in forward than it is in reverse. But its a neck breaker.
any ideas??

Does your cart have a controller or does it have resistor coils behind the batteries ?

Pretty sure a 1990 would be a resistor cart. Likely an issue with the V glide.

Yes, resistor coil. Likely a couple of bad solenoids for the low speed. Don't you think, Luke?

The only way a VGlide resistor cart can behave that way is if the pedal is pressed all the way down.

The old 5 solenoid with a welded solenoid or the 2-wire controller model in 1992 with a broken Multi Step Potentiometer resistor could behave that way as soon as the pedal is pressed.

The cart can start moving at partial throttle on the #2 or 3 solenoid if the #1 solenoid has failed. We don't know how much pedal is applied?

If its a 90 model , it only has 1 solenoid …..but it still could be solid state or resistor according to the wiring diagrams...

and the first few pads on the vglide could be melty and not making contact.....

Yeah the sticky is unclear as to what years had what. i have never seen a factory cart with controller older than a 92. I'm not sure when the multi-solenoid version ceased production. i'm sure some of this stuff overlapped. I suppose we will have to wait for the OP to chime back in, but I'll guess it's a V-glide cart.

good morning lads,
Cart has only one solenoid. I tested each resistor for continuity and they were fine.

the Multi Step Potentiometer may be wired wrong. There's 5 coloured wires connected to it.
There is 2-3 at one end l/h/s, with no wires on them.
im wondering if someone has put the colored wires connected to the resistors on the wrong terminals?

Would any one have this wiring diagram?
