2004 ezgo txt-pds
I have a stock cart with 2007 Trojan T105's in it. I am trying to get four 200 lb adults up a 30 degree grade. My cart (fully charged) will currently only make it about halfway up the 150 yard hill before it stops.
Give me the hit list of things I should do, please. Also what is the one single thing that I could do that would give me the best result. Thanks |

That is way more than you can expect from a stock cart. You can try a 400amp controller but I think you are going to need to convert to 48v AND a 400 amp controller with complete 4 gauge cable set.
You could try it at 36v first and see it may well do it? |

So what gives you more torque (ie: pulling power) Amperage or Voltage? Gas or Electric?
What are the models of stock cars from the leading suppliers (ie: EZGO, ClubCar, Yahmaha, etc) that offer a four seat cart that has the hauling capacity I need for my application in your opinion? Thanks so much for your advice |

Re: 2004 ezgo txt-pds
Voltage gives you speed, Amperage gives you Torque. Sounds like you need a dose of both.
The cart you have is fine for what you want, you just have to do some upgrades to the electronics. No matter what cart you choose (E-Z-GO, Club Car, Yamaha......) they will all either have to be upgraded or you are going to pay far more than what doing the upgrades to your existing cart will cost. If Money is not a concern at all, go buy an E-Z-GO RXV. unlimited torque and good speed, but it'll cost you in the $7000-$9000 range depending on the options you select. |

E-Z-GO RXV Gas or Electric? What about the EZ-GO ST?

Re: 2004 ezgo txt-pds
I'm a Sparky man.... Gas just takes up too much of my time.
As for the ST, as I said in my previous post, the ONLY cart I would use as a straight from the factory unit for what you want is the RXV (Electric) as they use an AC motor that the torque increases as the demand increases. In other words, if you hit the bottom of the hill at 19MPH, you will still be doing 19MPH halfway up the hill and 19MPH at the top of the hill. I still think your best alternative is to invest in better electronics for your current cart though. Heck they even do AC conversions on what you already have and you would save THOUSANDS of dollars. |

There is an AC conversion special this month is $(cheap) Delivered. That's an AC motor & 450 amp controller w/ 3 operating Modes, Regenerative Braking unit for CC or Ezgo I have used this kit. It goes 25mph in street mode and 16mp in Golf(off road) Mode with TONS of load hauling torque

Re: 2004 ezgo txt-pds
How much could I expect to pay to convert my cart to AC?
Where would I turn to in the Atlanta area to do this work? |

you need to talk to Scotty, he is a site sponsor and can hook you up with the parts you need. AC conversions aren't cheap but they are really the way to go if you want speed and torque.

Re: 2004 ezgo txt-pds
You should expect to pay about $2500 to have your cart converted to 48v AC drive. The kit is currently $1700 plus you need to increase your pack voltage.
This conversion will make your cart do everything you are asking and more. |
