Default extra "play" in steering 96 txt

I just acquired a 1996 txt, converted to 48v with an upgraded motor controller etc.
I notice it has play in the steering which is most noticable when I am cruising over 20mph. The cart wants to ver slightly without me moving the steering wheel.
At lower speeds its not near as bad.
I took a brief look at the steering from under the front wheels. didn't see anything that appeared to be loose. but what do i know.
Anyone have any suggestions? I looked on this website didn't come up with any real solutions that i saw.
Is there a diagram that i can use to reference part of the steering column?
any input would be great.

This is my first golf cart.
thanks in advance

Check the toe on the front tires, they should be set to about 1/8" to 1/4", you will need to adjust them via the tie rods.

If the alignment is correct, tie rods secure, and the tires are good, then you may need a new steering rack & pinion. It's a pretty straight forward job, and will tighten things right up.

I think i corrected one issues i was having at the spindles and the tie rod connection.
Now i think i just need an alignment.
How do i properly align a golf cart?

I have a 1997 TXT and had the same issue. Underneath the front end of the car I found three loose bolts, tightened them, and it seems to have fixed the problem.

Believe it or not, with a tape measure. Measure the tread on the front of the tire and the rear of the tire. Adjust the tie rods until the front measurement is 1/8'' to 1/4" shorter than the rear measurement, and you're done. Ultimately, you want a bit of "toe-in" for best handling.
