Default New ST Cowl not lining up?

I ordered a new ST front cowl already painted and am having some trouble putting on my 97 TXT. The top lip doesn't have holes to attach to the dash, and the instructions say to use silicone. Also the front bracket that rivets to the nameplate is not even close to lining up. If I go ahead and put it on, it will be held only by the flares and the silicone across the top lip and will be flimsey. Am I over thinking this?

Also, I added that support under the cowl. It's from a ST, and I read that it was supposed to be used anytime you switch cowls.

I don't know but I'm watching this thread because I just ordered the ST cowl for mine. Good luck and please post what you figure out.

I ordered the st brace # 71463-G01, to go with the bracket #
71101G02P that I already have put on. I think the brace sits on top of it, and supports the weight of the front end. I don't see how it will work correctly without it.

I have the brace installed and really think that it is needed. I'll post pics when I get the cowl installed.

I got the cowl on with the ST Brackets in place. I had to put the brace on under the support, but at least the cowl in supported. If you order a St cowl, I would advise against the one like I got without the dash holes. Hope this helps someone.

Thanks for the post. I'm about ready to mount mine but mine has the dash holes for rivets.

That looks great! What lights did you use? I hate to spend $200 for a light kit for mine.
