Starter/generator wiring

I have a 2001 ezgo txt with a clone swap. I bench tested my starter/gen and it would only work with power to A1 and neg to F2. When I put it in the cart it works great as starter but no power output, battery doesn't charge.

All the wiring diagrams I find say the power should be to F2 and grnd to A1.

If I switch them in the cart the gen smokes and the solenoid smokes

Any suggestions?

here is the correct connections.
on the starter/generator:

A2 TO F1 (JUMPED TOGETHER)

A1 TO CHASSIS OR MOTOR GROUND

F2 TO OUTPUT SIDE OF SOLENOID, LARGE TERMINAL.

DF GREEN WIRE TO VOLTAGE REGULATOR CENTER WIRE.


CHECK YOUR CART WIRING AND MAKE SURE ITS WIRE PROPER. THERE ARE SCHEMATICS IN THE TECH SECTION.
