Default Re: $25 Windows 10 x64 OEM mode 1314 and DIY Cable

Hello together,

i am struggeling with getting connection to my curtis 1238e.

Got an original FDTI-Chip, everything wired up properly, but i get checksum error from the controller.

Tryed to flash with FT-Prog but it seems that i cant change the Serialnumber.
Tryed to blank the serial out as it is in the template from ishootstuff but i am not able to.

Can anybody help me get out of this?

Regards
retrEV

That template has Autogenerate Serial Number enabled. You can't edit the serial number unless that is checked off.

1) Make cable as prescribed.
2) Install Curtis software (ie. 1314-4401 Version 3.12 build 33 Update Patch 2 - except I can only find build 35 - Patch 4 hopefully this is okay?)
3) Reprogram FTDI chip as prescribed and use template & other instructions.
4) If the drivers didn't install, manually install them and point Windows to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Curtis Instruments\1314-4402 PC Programming Station\1309 USB Driver" (BTW - these drivers are part of the later software version 4402 - A bit confused by this as I would also then need to install the 4402 software correct?)
5) Once FTDI cable is connected to controller, Bring up Regedit. Go into HKEY CURRENT USER/Software/Curtis Instruments/1314 CV4/Settings
**Under Name, look for the entry IAL and right click on the name IAL, select Modify Binary Data - For the line 0000, you want to input the values 76 00 31 00 EC 00 44 00 - For the line 0008, it remains 00 00 00
**Do the same for SAL.

If I install the Curtis 1314-4401 software beforehand; I do not see the registry values for SAL v1ìD at all. Are these registry fields created when I first plug in the FTDI cable alone or does the cable also need to be plugged into the controller as well? OR am I completely incorrect about such? OR Do I have to create the actual registry entries SAL & v1ìD manually? If I do, what exactly do I need to enter manually as far as the exact registry entries please?

Did I get anything wrong here or is there anything that I have missed?

Also, can either the 1314-4401 OR the 1314-4402 software be used with the FTDI cable? If so, do I only need to invert Rx and TXT signals with the earlier version 1314-4401 OR?

I sincerely appreciate the assistance :)
Same. No IAL key.

You need to create that entry manually and add the value.

I was thinking about building some cables and putting them on ebay. I bought my first one off ebay and it was $60 and took forever to get here. Then I moved across country and lost it - and so much more...

If there is some interest, I'll make a few, but I haven't yet read the forum policy on posting links or selling. I'd probably do $50 shipped.
looks a lot like the cable I built from an old pc power supply plug and a $5 serial breakout plug. but then I had to use the $10 fdti (clone?) serial to usb cable to go with it.... point is lots of options for people looking for them. Then again the older curtis controllers and the ones they had made overseas may be easier to program since the lockout is the only thing that makes them valuable these days. I still say it was the best $150 I ever spent buying the 500amp curtis clone for my cart... maybe its because they sent me 2 and I sold the second after programming for more than I paid for the first?

I've been doing a lot of reading and can't seem to figure this out. You said in another thread that all that is needed to tune the cart this way is a laptop with YAT. Can the 1314 software be loaded on the laptop to tune the cart without having to have the curtis programming console? If so where can I download this?

Thank you
