Instead of a new OBC, spend just a bit more and get a DPI Accusense charger. Not controlled by OBC and has a float charge that will keep your batteries charged 24/7
Per the website that sells them, either the obc has to work or you have to buy the more expensive one that also requires the bypass kit.

Well, yes and no..
I would say most of the people here at BGW get the "non" OBC DPI Charger.
The non OBC Charger does cost a little more, but well worth the benefits. The DPI Charger that requires an OBC is simply a replacement for the original cart charger and does not have a "float" charge mode. As far as a bypass "kit" is concerned, I guess you could go that route, but if you can splice and jump a couple of wires and follow directions in the sticky posted below, a bypass of the OBC won't cost you a cent.

So, I browsed through all these and didn't find a solution, so here goes... 2004 CarryAll 6 cart with an on board Powerdrive charger, batteries mighty low, but still enough to move the cart around my shop, plug charger in to wall power, orange dash light goes out, and relay clicks inside charger, but ammeter does nothing, no charge. I removed unit, and opened it up, dusty inside, but no corrosion to speak of, all connectors look good. I have continuity from the spades of the wall plug up to the relay, and some solid state board inside. What should I check next?

Bypass the relay, you may here a click but it probably is not picking up or maybe faulty. If you bypass it (and have verified current available) and still do not get anything, then check the diodes as they might have burnt out.

Yeah, looks like the control board is cooked...or something, idk. I got a ClubCar tech scheduled to come out next week, but I imagine he's going to want to take the cart back to the shop with him. I need to get this cart charged so these plumbers can use it. can I just wire in this old receptacle and charge the cart with a standard stand alone charger?

Yes you can:
Connect both the Gray and the Black wires to pack negative battery post.
Connect the Red wire to pack positive battery post.
Remember to monitor the voltage as the charger will not stop on its own.

I ended up wiring in the receptacle using the same points as the cord coming out of the on board charger, red to the same post the red came from black to the fuse, grey with the yellow fuse holder to the other end of the yellow fuse holder. I can hear my charger humming, but not much movement on the ammeter. should I abort?

Yes abort, that black wire coming off the onboard charger goes to the OBC, You need to be directly connected to pack negative with that by-pass.
