Default G16 problems

I have encountered a problem with my G16. With the transmission in forward or reverse the cart (lobes?) badly and will not run. It almost sounds like a "slung rod" problem in a large engine; but when I place it in neutral it runs like a charm. The engine was completely rebuilt six months ago with an oversized piston. It shows no sign of smoke, ignition fire or anything noticeably abnormal. Any ideas?

No offence, did you me "lopes"? When you try to drive it in f/r does it take of fast/jerk? Could be a stuck primary clutch and is useually because of flat spots on the rollers. Just a guess.

Lopes would be the word, but it doesn't take off fast. It jerks badly moving the cart a foot or two, jerks again, cart moves a foot or two, jerks again, etc. Take it out of gear and the engine runs great. I'm not even a novice when it comes to the mechanics of this cart, but it definitely seems to be a clutch related problem.

smallblock, I believe you are dead on with your guess. I checked the drive belt and it is tight as a tick. The primary clutch is definitely stuck. I'll be taking it to the shop next week for repair. Thanks for the headsup.
