Default My G2 makes a horrible racket. Please help

I bought a non running 1989 Yamaha G2a. I replaced the solenoid and it starts and runs but... It sounds like crap. Sounds like metal to metal scraping and clanking. I took off the drive belt and started it again and it sounds the same. I can't see anything wrong but I'm sure this is not normal. Can anyone help me? Thanks

can you take a video and upload it to youtube? It could be your primary drive clutch or could be your cooling fan. has to be one or the other

If the bushing is gone in the Primary-Clutch,they rattle pretty bad.Grab the clutch(engine off!!)rock the sliding-sheave up/down.If it rocks, the bushing is bad.Next, rock the clutch back and forth(clockwise/counter-clockwise)If its' noisy, the weights,or rollers are loose and need a rebuild or a new clutch.Hope this helps.

I just went thru same thing. Sounded crazy but now I know what happened. Seized. Won't turn at all now. So I hope a top end rebuild is all I need. Tear her down today an see what's up in there? Thanks for your post.
