Default Yamaha G2 Frame Rust Repair?

Looking at buying an older G2 off a fella this weekend that says battery acid rusted out the frame. Been looking for a replacement locally with no luck. Attached is the one and only photo he could get me of the damage. Has anyone repaired a similar problem? Is it doable?

I saw a similar (less extreme) situation on a buddies G1. We welded and patched it. It wasn't pretty, but it was no big deal. The cart is still running fine and his kids drive like Steve McQueen in a stolen cop car.

"Like Steve McQueen in a stolen cop car"
That's funny right there
