The rxv system draws approx 1/2 amp at rest with key on, according to the monitor system i install with lithium packs.

When I had my RXV, I wired it through the solenoid like cgtech mentioned and it worked perfectly fine. It's basically the same thing as wiring it to a standard on/off switch on other carts. I believe hat's the way EZGO recommends wiring the reducer.

didnt he say that he didnt want to do that just in case he left his key on it wouldnt drain the batteries. I would still wire it up that way but put a inline switch in as well. That way you dont forget and leave the switch on either.

Just seen that he didnt want to have to turn the key on.

As cgtech said 1/2 amp draw is not an issue. Not enough power to worry about.
Key in "n" would allow power but still keep cart immobile.

DO NOT WIRE TO KEYSWITCH .. will kill Controller ( + $$$$.$$)

Wiring to solenoid not the same a Fiddling with wire harness.
Solenoid power lugs are just power -- Digital signal wires (wire harness) are a different animal.

I want to hook my key switch wire up to a 12 volt toggle switch. It's hard to find a 48 volt switch so I'm going to use a 12 volt 30 amp switch. From what I understand, it's not the volts that will ruin a switch, it's the amps. So running 48 volts into a 12 volt switch should not be a problem. Has anyone done this set up before? I actually hooked mine up this way and I got power for a second or 2 then I lost power. I don't understand what went wrong. I ran power from my positive on battery number one to the toggle switch for power, than ran another wire from toggle switch to the "key switch" wire so that when it's flipped to the on position then it creates a circuit to activate the reducer. Please help. Thanks for your replies.
