Re: Very custom cart needs some troubleshooting help.
Sure!
I'm finishing up a 1:1 Star Wars "land speeder" based off a Lego set. It's 12'x7' now, and is much further along than the attached picture. She carries 2 people in the cockpit and 1 can stand on the back to fire the "blaster" turret. It's been 1.5 years of hard work, and the largest "functional" movie/set prop I've ever built. |

Actually it will probably be at far more charity events and conventions than parades, but it never hurts to have that slow setting for getting it around tight places. Adding 36 inches to the frame and dropping the steering wheel almost 6 inches means it turns like an 18 wheeler now. Here was ol'besy when I brought her home from the lot: Stripped and chopped in half: Custom machined frame extensions added: Bolted/welded back together, with steel cage around the top: Paneling under-body added: Body skeleton added: 4lb 2-part urethane foam carved down to shape front: Foam sheets cut down and carved to shape remainder of body: Original 87/88 Marathon rear-end swapped out for a 96 TXT rear-end to accommodate D&D motor. I had to do some heavy mods to the TXT rear-end because the mount plates were on the bottom, and it's 2 inches shorter than the original rear-end. Luckily this forum exists, because I found some great info that led me to using trailer axle perches from Tractor Supply as new rear-end mount points. I had to shim the wheels with 1/8 inch washers so the stock tires would have 3/8 inch clearance from the springs. New batteries and a Curtis 1268 controller were installed: Center console with buttons for sound effects, functions, and an onboard computer for GPS/Real-time video streaming (front & rear cameras)/social media updates & more: Anyone who says Fiberglassing isn't difficult has obviously never had to lay-up an entire Buick-sized vehicle in winter. I had to find a special Ultra Violet catalyst so the resin would cure in winter temps: She's based off a mixture of the Lego "Mandalorian Speeder" toy: And the larger version from the "Clone Wars" cartoon: Sorry for the wall of text/pics, but as you can tell I am very proud of this project. When done it will have cost around $7000 to complete, and a lot of tricks to help me with this was found right here on this very board. So thanks to all of you who have helped answer other people's questions, that also ultimately answered several of mine. ~Tom |

Re: Very custom cart needs some troubleshooting help.
Just wanted to post a quick update about my reverse issue. JohnnyB was correct, I just had to switch the green and red wires on the direction switch, and she drove like a champ. Thanks for the help! :)
