06 Precedent rubbing/grinding in rear end. Video included
I bought a '06 club car precedent. The guy said it had what sounded like rear brakes rubbing. Price was right although I figured there was more to it than brakes. Most guys would investigate a brake issue rather than take a loss like he did.
I jacked it up, removed the rear wheels and drums. Pressed the accelerator and noise is still there. I dont know if you'd call it a rub or a grinding noise. I've included a video. Feedback? http://vid213.photobucket.com/albums...pssbfveswq.mp4 |

Pull the axle drain plug and see what the oil looks like ( big pieces or small?)

Are those up in the tube, close to the diff? Is that a difficult fix?
On the rear gear oil, would you suggest draining the oil and replacing? Is that standard gear oil? |

Here's a link that may be invaluable. Not sure if 2006 & 2012 are the exact same, but Tahoe will know since he largely guided the original thread. The bearings are just inside the ends of the axle tube and are held in place with a snap ring that can only be removed with a proper right angle snap ring tool.

The gear oil is the same. The set up is almost identical.
The bearings are located at the end of the axles and are accessed by taking off the entire drum brake assembly and removing the c clip that holds axle and bearing from sliding out. |

Do the bearings have to be pressed in or is there a redneck way of doing it?

They are meant to be pressed on with a hydraulic press. I have read where some put the bearing in a low heat oven and the axle in the freezer (red-neck-style) and drift it into place, but I would be hesitant to try it since the axle is easily transportable to a shop with the equipment to do it correctly.

OK, after a little more research and asking questions, TahoeDawg has pointed me in the direction of a motor bearing. His suggestion in another thread (thanks joesam) was this (for future people with this problem)

My next question is ... motor bearing. Buy it at a auto parts store or is it a Club Car specific part? |
