95 Club Car 48v... Can these dead batteries be saved ?

Date code on batteries is J7... which I assume is Oct 2007.
So... yeah I don't expect them to last long... At least now I have a better method of charging and maintaining them.

I'm trying to put off new batteries as long as I can.

If I buy batteries... I will have more invested in those than the cart itself.

I understand... Have a neighbor who has an old fleet use DS cart & batteries I added over 4 gallons of water to top them off and they are about shot has he wasn't maintaining or charging them correctly. He now takes care of them but doesn't leave his street so he is not replacing them just yet...

A few weeks ago I played 45 holes of golf on my batteries, I think they were at 49.6 or close to that. Just to give you something to compare.

This Yamaha 48v automatic charger is really waking the batteries up.

Ran it last night... this morning batteries were at 50.4v.

Took kid to bus stop and put it back on charger. Didn't look at voltage... just wanted them fresh for when I got home from work.

Looked at batteries at 6pm and they are holding at 50.7v

I'm sure the charger only ran an hour or two this morning to top them off.

Also... yesterday I isolated the batteries from the car by making two harnesses using 175a SB connectors and 1/0 welding cable. One harness to the batteries and one from the solenoid and Curtis box.
Once I buy more lugs I will make all the rest of the cables in 1/0.

The SB connectors allow me to unplug the batteries and also allows me to plug charger directly into them. The OBC is no longer used since the 48v charger has auto shut off.
I work on propane and electric forklifts for a living so this is a natural upgrade for me.

Last summer I came across a 1968 Cushman that had 1998 batteries in it. They actually took a charge and I was able to drive the cart about 1/2 mile or so before they petered out. I was impressed that they were able to move the cart at all let alone 1/2 mile.

Batteries have been off the charger for about 30 hours now.

Pack voltage is 50.4

Not bad for 9 year old batteries that were at 0v a week ago.
