Fire
Trying to figure out why the speed controller blew apart
Put new solenoid it all new cables. I did mess up on the solenoid. 36v solenoid. I had. It being activated by 12v only dunno how I goofed that up but anyways. The solenoid shorted and was stuck on. Feeding power to speed controller constantly Would this cause the controller to blow out We drove it down the street no issues it just blew out after we got back and stopped the cart and was sitting for couple mins then boom. Blew the back off and caught fire |

Re: Fire
What kind of machine do you have. First find the serial number and let us know. Did you have to keep your foot on the brake to keep it from running away.

It was a Curtis controller no. It didn't drive off or anything just sitting there never moved when it was burning we had to unhook batteries top stop the blaze |

Re: Fire
I did however have 12 only going to the controller input. Dunno if that caused the issue as well but the solenoid was for sure stuck on I was using my power probe. To test. And only jumped between 2 batts for power on the probe

Re: Fire
All bets are off when you miswire things. Wrong voltages to the wrong components in the controller.

Re: Fire
The solenoid being stuck didn't cause anything. If everything were functioning properly you can drive all day with the solenoid stuck. The problem comes in when something shorts out. It's the solenoids job to quickly disconnect the batteries when you take your your foot off the pedal. How does the motor look, any burn marks?
