How fast can I expect a 1996 club car DS to go?
No modifications at all everything is standard on it.

1995-96 CC DS were the first years 48v series carts... I bought a pair of them needing batteries with great anticipation. Which soon turned to dissapointment when the batteries went in. They topped out at 12-14 mph without modifications.

This one is a 36 volt. I'm guessing slower than 48 volt?

It should be about the same. Your 1996 36v cart is a resistor coil drive system and the coils are all bypass for top speed. For this cart, speed can be improved 33% with modern electronics and 48v worth of batteries.
