Easiest and cheapest way to add speed?
We have a club car Ds not too sure what year... right now we get around 18-19mph with one person full charge which feels slower than normal... anyways what would be the easiest way to get those numbers in the 20+ range? Would there be any extra wear on batteries or motor? Thanks for responses

Re: Easiest and cheapest way to add speed?
You will have to ID the year and drive system before anybody can answer that question.
The year is the first 2 digits of the serial #. Choose a drive system below |

No inexpensive upgrades for this cart from here.
If you want a sepex drive cart (22-25 mph street use) trade for a Precedent or Ezgo TXT48 |

Your 2001 cart is probably a sepex drive. Do you have the rocker style F&R switch? Larger diameter tires will get you a little more speed but you'll sacrifice a little torque. I would look into a 300 amp controller.

Re: Easiest and cheapest way to add speed?
The switch is a big knob that rotates about 150 degrees, not a rocker whatsoever, I have always heard things about those speed magnets? Would these fit or are they for other carts?

Resistor coil carts were made until 2004.
Series carts were made until 2007 (i believe) Speed magnets are for sepex motors that have wires coming from the tail end ... does your motor have any wires coming from the tail end? |

Re: Easiest and cheapest way to add speed?
If your cart is indeed a series cart with a decent controller, you could lift it and put larger wheels / tires on it to gain some top speed. ( you will lose some torque but series carts usually have plenty of that) Standard carts have wheels with 18 inch diameter tires. You can go to 22 inches and gain some top speed but you would have to lift the cart to keep the wheels from rubbing. (I think)
