Look at it from the opposite direction; you are sure not retarding the life of the motor AND you will be performing a great PM'ing opportunity since you are breaking the cable connections anyway..... (And trust me, IF you ever had to remove the motor down the road, you will be VERY glad you did this and lubed that shaft)

Well, making it easier to remove later would be a good thing since I plan to upgrade it as soon as I pay for everything I'm doing now. BTW, do I need to remove the inner body work or is there some other secret to getting it out? My guess is that it weighs over 40lbs. Not going to be easy getting it off through the hole in the back of the cart!

No, use the access panel for the upper cable studs and then jack it up and do the rest from underneath. If needed, you can loosen and drop the shackles.

And yes, it is a little heavy, but much easier from underneath as you will have more control over it. I'm sure you know this, but squirt some penetrating oil on them if you haven't yet and make sure when you are on the lower hex of the stud, do not let it move at all when loosening the cable nut so as to protect it securely.

I use a piece of rope around the motor as a choker, use that to lower the motor from the top. LOL had too many motors land on my hand on top of the axle tube.
