Default 2001 Yamaha "Hick-ups" going up hill

I have a 48v 2001 Yamaha that I just replaced the motor with a new one from flight systems (not a high torque, just slightly faster, basically a stock motor).

Stock controller and Solenoid. The speed sensor is NOT CONNECTED.

Cart runs fine on level ground, but when I go up a steep hill, it kind of hickups, kind of like the motor just stops for a split second.

Any Ideas or suggestions as to the cause and/or solution.

Ok, I had read previously that the yamahas would run fine without speed sensor. That must be a different model or something.

The motor I got from flight systems had a different connector on it, both had three pins, but one was round and one was triangular. Do they make an adapter or do I splice or just buy a new speed sensor?

Yamahas will run nearly fine with no speed sensor, there are noticable quirks that don't really affect your ability to drive it. Try plugging it back in.

Let me add something to above. When I barely press accelerator, before the cart even moves, I can hear a high pitch noise, sounds like it is coming from the motor.

Once the cart gets going, I can still hear the high pitch sound, I originally assumed it was some type of warning signal from controller, but I am pretty sure it is coming from motor.

Most likely normal. The high speed switching in the controller to "chop" power is audiable to some.

The noise appears to be coming from the commutator end of the motor (in addition to sound, you can feel slight vibration at that the same frequency).

The sound is a little higher pitched than the reverse buzzer, but much more faint. It does it while cart is moving and when you slightly press the accelerator but not enough for cart to move

would that still be controller "chop"?

I will try to connect the speed sensor, but as I mentioned, the connector on the cart is round and the one on the new FSIP motor is triangular. However, I think I found an adapter.

I greatly appreciate all of the help!
