Batteries not charging
I have 1996 48v Club Car serial no A9649-548707 fitted with Trojan Batteries 18 months old. I used car for 18 holes and plugged in charger and for the first time charger did not start charging. I played another 18 holes and still charger did not start. I checked voltage across batteries 50.4 v. Red light is permanently on. I have 2 identical Lester Power Drive chargers type 18780 serial no 05 96 neither will start charging. I have tried link from Battery -ve to Black wire on recepticle still no charge. Any ideas?

Re: Batteries not charging
Check the outlet you are plugging the charger into for correct power. Plug a light in to test.

Re: Batteries not charging
Try resetting your obc there is a sticky that explains the proper way to reset it.

Re: Batteries not charging
Many thanks everyone for all the Help.
Connecting Grey wire to battery -ve has enabled me to at least charge the batteries. I tried resetting the OBC but unfortunately has not been successful, so it looks as if the OBC is faulty. Is there any danger of overcharging the batteries if I use the link to charge the batteries until I obtain a replacement OBC? |

Re: Batteries not charging
yes, you can potentially over charge the batteries. Jumping the charger puts the charger in it's highest output only (no charge phases as needed for proper charging)
Monitor charging so the pack does not exceed about 58v with this method and replace the PBC or get a smart charger and do the OBC bypass soon. |
