Default 2012 Drive G-29?

Hello. I sold my old '92 EZGO Marathon and I am about to pull the trigger on a 2012 G-29 with new trojan batteries. It is completely stock and will used for the golf course. My wife would like to add a rear bench seat, so we can take out the kids. A couple of questions if you can please help me. If I do add a rear bench do I need to replace the leaf springs to heavy duty ones? It would have to support my wife who weighs about 120 and a child that weighs about 35 lbs.

Also, I am toying with the idea of installing a voltage reducer if I want to add a light kit down the road or install a usb port. I see the price of voltage reducers from $15 to $150. Is there a huge difference?

Thanks in advance.

Scott

The $15 dollar one is a POS, don't buy it. The cheapo ones are known to often fail in a fashion that sends full 48v to your 12v things, that doesn't end well. There is a big difference.
