Loose lug nuts??
Can someone tell me why the lug nuts are coming loose and falling off I am at a loss here. I have a 2011 Yamaha drive with 22×11-10 wheels and tires with 1" wheel spacers.I was riding around tonight and heard a noise on the right rear side and found 1 lug nut missing and upon further looking all the lug nuts are loose on all wheels. Any suggestions? Attached is a pic of wheels and tires I have on it. Thanks you

Re: Loose lug nuts??
Over tighting will stretch the threads on the studs causing them to start backing off.
70 ft lbs on a torq wrench is good |

Use loctite on the threads before tightening

Re: Loose lug nuts??
Use a torque wrench. If you are, somethings not right…. As mentioned could use loctite but I’ve never had to on a lugnut…

Re: Loose lug nuts??
Wheel spacers can lead to loose lug nuts if things can move at all.

Re: Loose lug nuts??
It might be worth checking that the lug nuts taper matches the taper on the wheels. This is often the issue with them coming loose for no apparent reason as the contact surface is not sufficient to hold them tight.

Re: Loose lug nuts??
How long have your spacers and wheels been installed?
New wheels, new lug studs, and new lug nuts will loosen after they have been around the block a couple times. They need to be re-torqued on occasion. 70ft lbs is a little on the high side for these. Club Car spec is 50 Ft lbs. |
