Tapping into 12V behind the dash
Have a 48V electric 2009 Club Car Precedent. I want to add some LED light strips under the cart and maybe a second set up to the canopy. I'd like to tap into the wiring behind the dash rather than install the controller under the seat. When I installed the light kit I put in a 48-12V reducer and bucket harness. Is there a place on the bucket harness to pull the 12 v for the led lights? I'd like to avoid running a set of wires from the battery pack under the cart if possible.

Which Light Kit did you install? Some have a general 12V accessory harness you can tie into when a reducer is installed. Did yours have that?

Re: Tapping into 12V behind the dash
When you installed your 48-12V reducer, did you install and fuse panel?
If not, I'd highly suggested it. It'll make your like so much easier when adding 12V accessories in the future and keep all wiring neat and easily accessible. |

Re: Tapping into 12V behind the dash
There are supposed to be 2 unused leads on the stock harness behind the dash for a battery voltage meter. I'll check for those. If they are there, I can use the red hot 48V and black neg I ran from the battery bank for the volt meter. I'll just reroute them to the reducer.

Re: Tapping into 12V behind the dash
Those wires for the OEM meter are not good to tap, the red wire will be hard to tap on the harness and the yellow/black is shared with the MCOR, speed sensor, etc.
Since Your 12v source is switched already, You likely did not install the brake relay behind the dash. There should be four unused wires behind the dash for the relay. The two smaller 3/16" quick connectors (Orange and Blue/White) have switched power from the key switch. The two larger 1/4" quick connectors (Blue and Green/White) switch the 12v for the brakes. The 1/4" connector with the solid Blue wire is spliced with the 12v yellow wire that goes to your headlight switch. The diagram below should help: |

Re: Tapping into 12V behind the dash
I ended up using the 2 wires on the dash harness with pack voltage to the meter. Then I used the red and black wires I put in with the bucket harness for the under glow 12V. I moved the red power wire from the start positive of the pack to the yellow 12V from the reducer.
