Re: What is this solenoid and do I need it?
just found out I do have a click when I turn the key on and maybe another after while with the key on. Before, it would click with the key off, while sitting.

Re: What is this solenoid and do I need it?
You must have ANOTHER solenoid somewhere. That one is too small and doesn't even have all the wires going to it. Get the proper diagram.

Re: What is this solenoid and do I need it?
Guessing I do have another solenoid and wouldn't be surprised if it's not the same one but with #2 cables for the motor controller. Yes, one of the coil connections is broken off and the other I unplugged. That's how I realized I might not even need this thing. The solenoid isn't small maybe 2X3" and would seem overkill for just the 14 gauge (negative?) wire it switches. Are wiring diagrams easy to get? I'll look.

Looks like someone rigged that up as a switching relay. That is a stock solenoid fo club cars.

I should have said the WIRES are too small to be running a golf cart.

This was part of a fleet that a local general golf car dealer serviced. They paid 15K for this thing and probably over 10K in repairs and mods in 6 years according to the title and service records. edit: and whatever that solenoid was for I think it clicked every 30-90 sec just sitting with the key off. I'm surprised I have yet to see others here who bought from the same fleet but I bet they'll show up |

I do love the bed especially as a flat bed with the side boards off. It makes a real handy mobile work table and hauler. Overall it's not good for me though. It handles like a barge and is terrible on bumps and rough terrain. I bet they have about 30 of them and they just sold like 5-7. I got mine the cheapest since it was first and no one expected them to go that low, 1200, 1300 total. The rest went for like 1800-2300 total. |
