Headlights for 2001 48V Club Car DS
I recently came into possession of a 2001 48V Club Car DS. It looks not very fancy and is rather slow - but it drives and is definitely good enough for getting me around in the large RV resort where I live most of the time.
It has a couple of issues that I hope to fix or get fixed over time. One issue are the headlights. They are not only very dim but they also shine mostly into the air. Are there replacement headlights available that - most likely - fit into the existing openings, and is there a way to adjust the lights? I tried to adjust the current lights with shims, but it did not make much of a difference and I did not want to risk to break something. I do not need the most fancy lights - something basic and not so expensive will be good enough. I'm using the car only on the paved roads within the resort. It would be great if someone could point me to a specific set of headlights. Thanks - desertman |

Are they the stock location and style lights? Are they broken?

theres is plenty of after market headlight that are adjustable . the question would be are your factory or aftermarket. factory ones are a bit larger and most aftermarket wont fit in the hole.
post pic of them and we can tell |

Here comes a picture. I don't know whether these are stock or aftermarket lights.

I'm far from an expert, but are those older headlights on an '01? I thought by 01 they were using the larger style? Either way, I think you can get whole new assemblies that'll pop right in there. Not too expensive either. Verify the voltage going to the lights and see if that's the source of the dimming.

Re: Headlights for 2001 48V Club Car DS
Thanks for the input.
Yes, it's definitely a 2001 model. And, yes, I found inexpensive headlights that probably fit right in. I cannot post the link as I'm too new here for that; they can be found when searching for "Golf Cart Club Car DS Halogen Headlights 1982-2018 Small Size " on Amazon. They are not LED lights, but I do not really need that. I just want lights that are better than what I have right now. I will check tonight the voltage going to the lights - right now we have already 110°F and I find that a little too hot for fiddling around on the vehicle. desertman |

well led would be the better option for they use far less power if your not going to install a 48 to 12 volt reducer . but if you want to do it correctly then a reducer would be insalled and then the lights would run off 12 volt from the entire pack instead of just two batteries.

According to the serial number it's an early 2001 DS (without MCOR which where added only later that year). Whether someone swapped the front end I don't know. Front and back ends have the same color which seems to be the original color.

Re: Headlights for 2001 48V Club Car DS
I checked the voltage going to the lights - 16.71 volts. I guess that's ok.
Could that mean that I possibly only need new bulbs to have better light? Are bulbs getting old and dim? "Better" would be probably good enough for me; I do not necessarily need "excellent." desertman |
