Precedent motor horsepower ratings.
stock pecedent motor says 3.3 Hp. I was looking at Admiral MOT-A2 which is listed at 10 Hp peak. How can you compare motors? what is Peak Hp of stock motor or what is Base Hp of Admiral motor? Is there a conversion formula for base to peak hp or vice versa?

Re: Precedent motor horsepower ratings.
3.3 HP is the peak.
A2 is a high speed motor. |

Re: Precedent motor horsepower ratings.
The stock motor develops considerably more than 3.3HP, the issue is at what rpm and efficiency that peak occurs, for the stock ADC peak HP is around 2,200 rpm.
I have never seen manufactures release torque/rpm curve for their motors, FSIP publishes some information but it uses less common (for automotive) units like "lbf dbp" for torque. |

thanks for the info. it just makes it hard to make an educated decision when manufacturers wont use consistent ratings. ill keep asking around on the site and get "real world" feedback from others.

Re: Precedent motor horsepower ratings.
All of those after market motors will have more power than the stock OEM motor, they normally divide the options between "Torque" and "Speed" which is based on the RPM the motor develops its posted peak HP.
If You want to go fast up a hill, You need a "Speed" motor and not a "Torque" motor. If You want to carry a heavy load at low speeds you need a "Torque" motor. The "Torque" motors usually have a "long stack" construction so they may not fit is some older DS cars as the shock mount gets on the way. |
