DS Body Crack
98 CC DS body crack in the area of the rear passenger corner of the seat, is this fixable if so how? or is it better to just try and find another rear body?

Re: DS Body Crack
Those DS bodies are polycarbonate. There is no glue that works with it. The only way to repair it is to use heat to "weld" it together. A soldering iron can be used. If you could trim some material from an inconspicuous place, it could be melted in as filler. Good luck.

Re: DS Body Crack
This is how I do it. Same basic process except you’re fixing a crack and don’t need to make a plug for it.
https://www.buggiesgonewild.com/show...ght=holes+body I always save a couple cutouts from when I install headlight kits. I just didn’t have any at the time I fixed this one. |

Re: DS Body Crack
I used some plastic bumper repair stuff, I think bondo made it, on some 1" holes in a body I got with the same plastic material. It filled the holes and sanded nicely. That is more of a stress prone area on yours but mines been holding up for a couple years now. Could be worth a shot.

Re: DS Body Crack
Also to note I’ve had good luck using JB weld plastic weld epoxy for filler instead of bondo. Works great, strengthens the repair even more and sands well. It won’t crack like bondo when the plastic flexes. It IS more difficult to sand than bondo, it’s a harder material. But the trade off of strength vs a couple extra minutes of sanding is worth it to me

Re: DS Body Crack
Thanks guys I think I am going to try that plastic welder from Harbor Freight and try to imbed some mesh on the underside and cover with some additional melted plastic then use CP241 idea of the JB Weld on the outer surface, it all sounds good on paper so we will see, if all else fails I will try to find a body

Re: DS Body Crack
drill a hole larger than the crack at both ends, even if youre welding it.
If you use the HF hot air welder make sure to get one that regulates the voltage. |
