Default Re: Resistor burned when upgrading Curtis controller

Never came across a multimeter that was bad until now. Used a new multimeter and problem solved. Thanks and sorry to waste your time!

Got the Alltrex controller installed and pulled out for a test drive and evidently I installed the diode on backwards. I got about 30 feet and the cart stopped. The diode blew in two as you can see from the pic. Is it possible that this would disable the cart? The manufacturer of the controller (Alltrex) directs you to remove the resistor and only use the supplied diode. The instruction say to connect to the large screws on the solenoid.

That diode is directional, and it appears that you put it on backwards. See that grey stripe? That should have been on the side of the solenoid that comes from your battery pack.

Thanks, I figured that out. Is it possible that this disabled the cart? Replacing it might fix the issue?

The cart should still work without it, although I don't recommend long trips without having one. You may have cooked something, but I'm definitely not versed enough with these controllers or older carts to say for sure.
