Default Any tricks to installing AMD 7126?

Got the new motor in.. man... that thing is heavy lol.. had not taken the stock motor off the 96 txt I have so had no idea heh.

Anyway, any tips or tricks or links to a how-to video?

Seems fairly straight forward, but I like to research a littl.. er.. a lot before I do it, to learn from other's issues heh.

Also, the motor has a clamp on the end. Not sure what that is about.. but figuring I will find out.

Thanks!

Just waiting on a Stimulus to order batteries.. heh

I am opting for a set of 6 US 8VGCHC XC2 batteries and an onboard 650w 48v Summit charger, unless anyone recommends something else.

It is okay to take a brush with a dremmel and lightly clean inside here? Looks like it needs it badly...

Hoping this does not require an entire new axle....

Yes - clean and coat with anti seize before installing the new motor. I like to put a mark on the case indicating where the threaded holes are. It mikes it easy to see where the motor should be rotated to so all 3 bolts are lined up

Got that. I am currently looking for replacement parts for the input shaft, in case they do not clean up well.

I am thinking I can clean it up as is.. but... we will see.. heh

Thanks Scotty!

My opinion and I know it's not from a brilliant mind is to go ahead and change the input shaft while you can get to it easily. I did mine and it made a huge difference in sound so I knew it had to be worn. Also pull your old one out first and count the spiral teeth and the motor spline teeth to be sure you get the correct one. Look good at them because you can get them with the bearing already on it too. It was definitely worth it to me.

You might want to consider replacing the entire input shaft assembly (Shaft, gear and 2 set of bearings) since the oil has to climb up the gear train and the input gear gets the least lubrication and wears the most.

I am, just need to find the right parts. Right now, I do not want to take it apart till I have new parts to put back in.....it works at least atm, heh.. and looking for a breakdown diagram of this part so I can locate the entire assembly. I do not think I want to spend 900 bucks on an entire rear axle :P

Just google input shaft for your year and make cart. Just make sure it has the correct number of gears/splines. You can take yours out and put it back in...takes about 3 minutes with your motor already out. I got mine with the gears already on it for about $65.00 delivered.....worth every penny.
