Default 2008 DS top speed???

Does anyone know how fast you can SAFELY go on a stock IQ motor? Mine is getting to be pretty quick and I don’t want it to explode

I think most recommend keeping it under 6,000 rpm. Mostly to keep the windings from flying apart.
Gearing and tire size will then affect your overall top speed.

I have no idea how many RPM it’s turning. Has the stock controller and a speed magnet. Tires are slightly larger than stock 205/50/10 but not much larger, cart isn’t lifted.

Low to mid 20s is usually the target when people do an Alltrax upgrade with a stock motor.
Those tires are pretty close to stock size, so maybe good for an extra 1 or 2 mph.

27 mph will equate to 6k rpm. FWIW, my wife's '14 Precedent does 27/28 with 18" tires, stock controller and a stock APPEARING motor. I have no idea if any mods have been done to it internally, but so far it hasn't grenaded.

Thanks guys. Think I should be all right. It’s doing 23-25mph pretty consistently on flat pavement now. Motor and controller are stock except for a speed magnet. Just don’t want the thing to grenade on me. I know it was really only designed for about 14mph That’s more speed than I really need 90% of the time but it can be helpful for a couple patches I have to cross some fairly busy streets. I’ll just have to keep an eye on the downhills and ride the brakes so it doesn’t go too fast.

Exactly. With the speed magnet regen is disabled. Nothing will now stop the motor from over revving going downhill other then the driver braking.
