RXV Charging Receptacle Wires
I am helping a buddy convert his 48V RXV from lead acid to Lithium Ion. He is using a 48V kit from bigbattery.com. Their instructions say to just run a positive and negative from the charging receptacle to the new bus block we're installing. According to them, he can use his original charger to charge the system.
I am trying to identify all of the wires coming out of the back of the charging receptacle. It appears there's some that help with the battery management. I'm wondering if I can just not use these, as the batteries have their own internal battery management. I searched here for the proper wiring diagram for the back of the charger, but can't seem to find anything. Thanks for the add and the help. |

Re: RXV Charging Receptacle Wires
Red is pack positive and black is negative. Short blue one is the charger interlock. Grey one with a black box is a temperature sensor.

Hi,
I'm contemplating this conversion. Anyone post a step by step yet? |

Re: RXV Charging Receptacle Wires
OK. I just read about the interlock wire and the temperature sensor wire. I guess the question now is do those work off of 48 volts or 12 volts? I will have both available...just need to know what voltage those wires are expecting.

Re: RXV Charging Receptacle Wires
Cart won’t work unless that wire connected to the blue wire has pack positive voltage. When you plug the charger in the receptacle it kills power to that wire. Sensor can just hang free.

Re: RXV Charging Receptacle Wires
Blue wire provides 48 to the controller.

Re: RXV Charging Receptacle Wires
The Quiq charger that comes with the cart will not work if the temperature wire isnt connected I found out but I got a lester summit ii charger and it doesnt require having temp wire connected to charge. Just FYI whether this helps or not.

Re: RXV Charging Receptacle Wires
So one more question regarding the gray temperature sensor wire. I've converted over to Lithium Ion and am now using 'bus blocks' to send power to everything. I have a 48V bus block and a 12V bus block. Which one would you recommend the temp sensor wire connect to?
I'm using the delta-q PowerWise QE charger. |
