Perhaps the picture doesn't show it well, but the belt is indeed shiny on it's sides. The sides are also angled.

That being said, would this cause the lurching on takeoff?
It could. Usually G16's have to rev up a little before taking off anyway. A G9 is usually immediate. A shiny belt will also indicate that it's been slipping and burned the side of the belt. It can also be a result of getting wet or getting a little grease on it from greasing the clutches. If it's shiny and pitted, I'd replace it.

Anyone know if there is a conversion chart for drive belts. I looked the part number up on the Yamaha site and it is J55-G6241-00-00 for this 1999 G-16 AT cart. Is there an equivalent EZ Go drive belt? I can get EZ Go belts here locally....

Ezgo belts are narrower than Yamaha drive belts and not sure about length. I would go with OEM. Try one of our sponsors, they can usually get you one in a day or so.

I was curious so I looked these up. The closest match to your stock belt is one for a 91-94 4 cycl Ezgo but it is about an inch longer: 1 3/16 x 40 3/4. Your stock belt is 1 3/16 x 39. You would loose all or most of your torque if it would even stay on the clutches.

What measures 39" on the belt? Inside or Outside circumference?
