Hello i am somewhat new here and i was wondering if anyone could tell me where to get an engine rebuild kit for a 1996 yamaha G 14 , maybe even telling me what kind/type of engine i have .If no kits are available how about where to get an inexpesive new/rebuilt engine that would be a direct fit

G14's were a one year engine. You will need to know thats what you have. If your not mechanicly enclined, you might check out (site sponsor) J & M. They have long blocks for sale, I have never used them, but I have sent some customers to them and they were very happy. Later Dave

just rebuilt it your self

normaly a 300cc engine different piston than a G9 engine a bit biger

you will probably need the own the cylinder ,clean the grooves & re ring the piston

replace both seals on the crank

take the head apart clean the valves check for wear in the guides & change the valve seal there is only one but you can install one on both valves
pretty easy job for a mechanicly inclined person

around 150 to 200 $ of parts a rebuilt engine will cost you around 550
$

I would never discourage anyone from rebuilding a golf car engine. There are mechanical abilities/tools/ specs and knowledge to consider. I would be the first in line to help if asked for. Mayberry, what ever you decide....There will be plenty of members ready to help. Dave

Thanks to all who have given info I am mechanically inclined but WILL probably need some help along the way I will be doing this project in about a month are there any markings(numbers) that i should look for on engine to tell if it is the right motor for the cart I have no reason to suspect that it is not the original but maybe it could have an engine "leftover" from previous year(s)

i just got through rebuilding my G2 last week, easier than rebuilding a overhead cam motor, more like a Briggs-statton with the ohv. getting the push rods in place was a bit aggravating, other than that it was simple.
